Congratulations to the fifteen most recent Capitol Foundation Civics Education Initiative award recipients! Awardees include Boys and Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties; Center for Women's Leadership; City of Sisters; Civics Learning Project; East County Rising Community Projects; Hatfield Futures Program; International School of Beaverton; Next Up; Oregon Business and Industry Research and Education Foundation; Oregon Humanities; Oregon YMCA Youth and Government; Politisit; Portland Urban Debate League; Rural Development Initiatives and Young Leaders Program. The Capitol Foundation awarded a total of $225,883 for this fifth round of awards.

The Oregon Alliance of YMCAs is continuing to build the next generation of changemakers through the YMCA Youth and Government® program — now reaching even more students thanks to renewed support from Retirement and the . Over the past three years, this national partnership has helped expand access in 18 states and D.C., including right here in Oregon.

We’re honored to be a grant recipient selected to grow this work in 2026.

The Oregon YMCA Oregon State YMCA Youth & Government Program Committee held its Summer Retreat today at the Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties, celebrating our success the past program years and planning for our 80th Youth Legislature in 2026! What a terrific group volunteers! Appreciate their dedicating an entire Saturday to important youth work.
