Northwest Washington Volunteer Fire Company The Northwest Washington Volunteer Fire Company was established on June 11,1979 by the citizens of the Jefferson Township to provide emergency services.

Establish over 34 years ago (June 11, 1979) the Northwest Washington Volunteer Fire Company is contracted by the citizens of the Jefferson Township in Washington County Indiana. We provide fire suppression and emergency medical care to over 900 citizens of the township that are spread out over 48 square miles of rural farm and forest areas.

From The Office Of Washington County Emergency Management
As of 9AM Tuesday January 27, 2026, the Washington County Commissioners have decided that the Travel warning will be lifted. The county will remain under a watch condition. All roads have reportedly been plowed at least once. (Thank you County Highway, City Street Department, and INDOT!!!) The Extreme Cold warning is due to expire soon. We will still be under a Cold Weather advisory for the foreseeable future. If you must venture out, still use caution and take provisions to keep warm should you find yourself stuck!

❄️ Extreme Cold = More Energy Usage ❄️

With this extreme cold, everyone is using more electricity than usual to stay warm. That increased demand can really strain the electric system.

To help keep power reliable for everyone, we’re asking members to voluntarily reduce electricity use for a short time.

Simple ways to help:
• Turn off lights and electronics you aren’t using
• Delay running dishwashers, laundry, or other large appliances
• Avoid extra cooking or baking if you can
• Lower your thermostat just a degree or two if comfortable

These small steps, taken together, can make a big difference. We truly appreciate you helping us look out for one another and keep the system running smoothly during this cold stretch.
