Our friends at Salem Public Library (Salem, OR) are sharing a fun program called 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This is a great activity to do during the summer with your kids!

Research shows that reading together helps children learn new words and feel ready for school. The more you read, the better!

Here’s how it works:
Read books with your child
Track what you read
Every 100 books = a stamp at the library 🎉

Attention families! Make sure to be up to date on your child's immunizations before February 25th to stay active in your program. Children not up to date will be excluded until vaccine documentation is provided. Check with your pediatrician, doctor, or pharmacy for vaccine availability. Marion County will have several clinics scheduled this month:

Saturday, February 7th 9am-12pm
Wednesday, February 11th 9am-6:30pm
Wednesday, February 18th 9am-6:30pm
Saturday, February 21st 9am-12pm

¡Atención familias! Asegúrense de que las vacunas de su hijo/a estén al día antes del 25 de febrero para poder continuar inscritos en su programa. Los niños que no estén al día con sus vacunas serán excluidos hasta que se proporcione la documentación de vacunación. Consulte con su pediatra, médico o farmacia sobre la disponibilidad de vacunas. El Condado de Marion tendrá varias clínicas programadas este mes:

COMING APRIL 2026
Ready! For Kindergarten is a parent workshop series for families with children ages 4–5.
This three-event series is a great opportunity to help your child prepare for the routines, activities, and learning experiences they will encounter when they begin kindergarten this fall. Families will receive three sets of toys and learning tools (a $200 value), enjoy a catered dinner, and have access to free childcare during each session. Registration opens in March—keep an eye out for more details!

¡Listos para el Kindergarten! es una serie de talleres para padres y familias con niños de 4 a 5 años.
Esta serie de tres talleres es una excelente oportunidad para ayudar a su hijo a prepararse para las rutinas, actividades y experiencias de aprendizaje que vivirá al comenzar el kindergarten este otoño. Las familias recibirán tres juegos de juguetes y herramientas de aprendizaje (con un valor total de $200), disfrutarán de una cena con servicio de catering y contarán con cuidado infantil gratuito durante cada sesión.
