On the evening of Wednesday the 21st this team was recognized for thier efforts in saving the life of one of our residents. The patient had went into cardiac arrest and was treated initially by arriving officers by providing excellent CPR and using the AED. When EMS arrived the relieved officers of CPR br applying the LUCAS device, administering life saving medication and rapid transport to Mountain View Hospital. The patient is doing well and was present at the meeting to offer her gratitude. The patient was one of our very own members when the association was in its early stages. It was heart warming to have this service go full circle and return the service to one who had previously dedicated herself to providing it for years.
Her husband had also served for many years on the fire department and has been the fire chief. Thanks to both of them for help building Salem's Emergency Responders so It could become what it is today.

Congratulations on a job well done!

Tonight at City Council meeting, first responders were recognized for excellence in saving a man's life. The patient had experienced a cardiac arrest. Playingva major role was his wife who administered CPR. Salem Police arrived and performed AED defibrillation and continued CPR. Salem EMS arrived and began ALS treatment. Salem Fire was on scene to assist with moving the patient to the ambulance. The hospital ER continued patient care which sent him to the cath lab to open a artery that without treatment is referred to as a "widowmaker".
With the combined efforts of those involved, the patient was able to walk out of the hospital and is enjoying his added time with his wife and family.

During our Salem Days events, we award our Firefighter of the year award. This year's recipient was Larry Stone. Larry has been volunteering with the department since 1979. He has been a valuable member ever since. He has also been on the department longer than many of our members have been alive. CONGRATULATIONS on a well earned award!

I'm a bit late but still want to thank Woodland Hills Fire Department, Elk Ridge Fire Department and Payson Fire Rescue for thier assistance during our fireworks. Without thier help we wouldn't be able to put them over the pond and that just wouldn't be the same.

I wish this was of the finale but we had a medical and I wasn't able to video it.
