Let me tell you about Sandra a legend, a force of nature, and truly one of the heartbeats of Tandem Northwest. ❤️
Sandra was always quick with a joke, a witty comment, or that look of “you can’t be serious…”
She always said there were no stupid questions. And I’m pretty sure I personally pushed that philosophy to its absolute limit. At some point, I noticed she quietly stopped reminding me that there were no stupid questions… I took the hint. 😂
But behind the humor was an incredible depth of knowledge and experience. Sandra knew this field, she had worked with several of the agencies in the area working with people with disabilities. Her leadership was amazing and she was always someone you were glad was in the room whether for knowledge or for her ability to navagate tough conversations, or to tell a funny story and laugh with you as you enjoyed each others company. She had a way of correcting you that could make you laugh while simultaneously making you realize you probably should have known better.
She was a force to be reckoned with, she cared deeply, spoke honestly, and never hesitated to stand up for what she believed was right, or share her opinion.
Sandra served as the RN for Tandem Northwest for several years, and we were heartbroken when she retired. Thankfully, retirement didn’t keep her away for long. She came back to serve as a board member for many more years, continuing to pour her wisdom, heart, and humor into an organization she clearly loved.
Words really can’t express how loved, respected, and appreciated Sandra was and still is. She will be greatly missed as we continue to navigate this world without her but that is what she would have wanted us to do.
Sandra, thank you for the laughter, the lessons, the wisdom, the tough love, and all those times picking up the phone to answer a question (as silly as some of them were).
You were and always will be a legend at Tandem Northwest Thank you for your example, love and devotion ❤️
- sincerely
Jason and the Tandem team
