This morning in Salem a truly genuine hero was laid to rest in a ceremony worthy of the dedicated public service that was Massachusetts State Police Trooper Kevin Trainor.
Funerals can be at once deeply somber and an inspirational celebration. And so it was that this son of Salem, a Trooper who lived his oath of protect and serve, lost his life doing just that.
We will never know how many innocent people he saved through his unmatched bravery and devotion to duty, but it is certain that people are alive today because of his selfless action.
While a soft rain obscured the tears of many at the conclusion of the service, it was clear that while Trooper Trainor may not have had the gift of a long life on this earth, his life was impactful and his legacy will last a lifetime.
May God bless this good public servant, the Massachusetts State Police, and first responders everywhere.

April is Victims Rights Awareness Month and every year the Essex County District Attorney’s Office Attorney’s Office holds and event to recognize the importance.
This morning we remembered Claire Gravel, a young woman loved by her family, friends, Salem State classmates and her hometown.
Her murder in 1986 impacted many, particularly her family who eloquently recalled Claire’s spirit and vibrant character at the sentencing of the person responsible for her death.
At today’s event with 80 attendees including police officers, prosecutors, victim advocates and social workers, Claire’s brothers spoke about the tragedy of losing Claire and how justice came 40 years later.
Here with the prosecution team MA State Police Det. Lt. Robert DeMeo, DA Paul Tucker, State Police Det.Lt.(Ret.) Elaine Gill, Deputy First Assistant and lead prosecutor Kim Faitella, Jim and Mark Gravel, VW Chief ADA Maureen Leal, Homicide Unit Chief ADA Jess Strasnick, and Appeals Unit Deputy Chief David O’Sullivan.

The Essex County District Attorney’s office and the Danvers Police Department worked hundreds of hours investigating the case where Chris “Ducky” Anderson was the victim. The D.A.’s recommendation of a committed sentence for these two juveniles reflected our view.

The following information is being shared as a result of continued community interest in the sentences recently imposed on two of six juveniles charged with beating Christopher “Ducky” Anderson of Danvers, MA.
