Milk expires. Meat expires. Mystery leftovers should probably retire.

But fireworks? Fireworks will keep.

Please do not discharge fireworks during the current ban. Store them safely, keep them cool and dry, and away from kids. But hang on to them for a time when fireworks are allowed again! 😁

We get it—missing out on the big booms is disappointing. 🎆 But lighting fireworks in restricted zones (all of Salem City) isn’t worth the risk. Fires can devastate our communities in seconds. Let’s look out for our neighbors, our first responders, and our beautiful state by keeping the celebration safe and legal.

Reminder: Violating fireworks restrictions carries a fine up to $1,000 plus the cost of fire suppression and any damages caused.

Keep it legal, keep it safe, save the fireworks for next time. 🚔🌲🚒

Salem City has banned all fireworks this 4th of July weekend. We’ll be out patrolling to help everyone celebrate safely.

Salem City has issued a complete ban on all consumer fireworks within city limits for the Independence Day Holiday, July 2-5, 2026, in compliance with Governor Cox's Executive Order on wildfire danger.

With heavy hearts, Salem Fire & Rescue joins the wildland fire community in mourning the loss of three firefighters who died while responding to the Knowles Fire on the Utah/Colorado border.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Our deepest condolences are with their families, friends, fellow crew members, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.

Friendly reminder: open burning is restricted on unincorporated state and private lands in Utah County, and honestly, the mountains look better un-toasted.

They did it! 🏆

All day long, Salem Fire & Rescue had been watching, waiting, and coordinating with Salem PD so we would be ready if Salem Hills Softball pulled off the win.

And last night, they gave all of Salem a reason to celebrate.

Mayor Simons and members of the Salem City Council met the team at the fire station with cheers and high fives before the girls climbed aboard the fire trucks for a championship parade through town.

We don’t get to help bring home a 5A State Championship trophy every day, but last night was one for the books.

Congratulations, Salem Hills Softball! Thanks for letting us be part of the celebration. 💙

You may have noticed some smoke up near Elk Ridge this morning. Elk Ridge fire department is conducting a controlled house fire. They have put significant prep and planning into this and they are using as a training opportunity as well.
