At the Roanoke County Sheriff's Office, rehabilitation is about more than serving time—it's about creating opportunities for growth, learning, and giving back.
These custom benches were designed, built, and engraved by inmates participating in our Rehabilitation Programs. Through hands-on vocational training, participants develop valuable woodworking, design, and engraving skills while learning the importance of teamwork, responsibility, craftsmanship, and taking pride in their work.
The benches have been donated to some of our schools, allowing our inmates to make a positive impact on the very community they will one day return to.
Programs like these benefit everyone. Our community receives quality handcrafted projects, while participants gain practical job skills, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment that can help reduce recidivism and prepare them for a successful future after incarceration.
A special thank you to Masons Cove Elementary as well as Northside Middle School for allowing us to present these benches to their students and staff. We also appreciate everyone who supports rehabilitation efforts that create safer communities and brighter futures.
