We were excited to welcome our newest staff members to Salem CSD today! Our new team members spent the day getting to know the district and meeting their staff mentors, veteran members of our team who will support, encourage, and guide them as they begin their journey with Salem CSD.

Building strong connections between school and home starts with getting to know the educators who work with your children. Families are invited to check out the Staff Placements 2026–27 article on our website for a complete list of our teaching staff and their positions for the upcoming school year:

Twenty Salem CSD students spent six days at Camp Oswegatchie in the Adirondacks this July, gaining leadership skills, building connections, and creating experiences that will last long after summer ends.

Members of the Salem FFA Chapter are bringing what they learned back home to strengthen their schools and FFA chapter. We are proud of the leadership and initiative they demonstrated throughout this experience! 💜💛

Salem Central School District has been awarded the “Culture of Caring” recognition by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) for the student-led “Coin Wars” challenge, where the high school Food Science class teamed up with elementary classrooms to raise money for the Salem Food Pantry.

The Culture of Caring program was created to celebrate examples of good deeds, acts of kindness, social-emotional support, charity, self-directed initiative, and leadership that can be found every day in public schools across New York state. We are immensely proud of the students and staff who led the “Coin Wars” challenge!

During the school year, the AP Biology class took a field trip to the genetic engineering lab at RPI and got their hands on the DNA technology that they studied in class! It was a fun, hands-on experience that brought what we study to life and gave everyone a memorable look at real-world biotechnology. 🔬👩‍🔬

Inclusion is more than a goal at Salem; it is something students experience every season. With the addition of club Unified Basketball, Salem now offers a Unified sports option year-round, creating opportunities for students with and without disabilities to compete, build confidence, and form lasting friendships.

Read how these programs are breaking down barriers, strengthening connections, and making a difference both on and off the court. https://www.salemcsd.org/article/2999336
