Calling all Chaffee_Remote Workers! 📣

Chaffee_Coffee is tomorrow morning at Compact Coffee at 8:30 am and we hope to see you there. ☕

Six months in and this monthly meetup has become one of the best mornings in the valley. Tomorrow we are also saying a huge thank you to Seth at Compact for making it all possible and opening his doors to our growing community.

You can also sign up for a Chaffee_Go group tomorrow! Chaffee_Go is our new way of staying connected and getting out there together as a remote community - think hot springs, hiking, boating and more. The adventures are already happening and there is a spot waiting for you.

Come work, come hang, or come just for the coffee. All of it is welcome.

Meet Omni-Board - one of the standout companies from the Ascent Accelerator's 2026 cohort.

Omni-Board is reimagining personal transportation with an omni-directional, self-balancing electric skateboard unlike anything on the market. They are not just building a product - they are building the future of mobility and changing how the world moves.

What makes this story even more remarkable? Founder Ruben Torres is still in high school. He took the stage at Ascent Demo Day and delivered one of the most confident, compelling pitches of the night.

We cannot wait to watch this one grow. Learn more about Omni-Board and the rest of our incredible 2026 cohort at chaffeecountyedc.com.

One of our own is stepping up to the mic. 🎤

Ascent alum DogGurt, founded by Amanda Colanino, is pitching at Colorado's June Demo Days on June 3rd at noon and we want the whole valley cheering her on.

Demo Days is a quarterly virtual pitch event where Colorado founders present to a panel of judges in a four-minute pitch, followed by feedback and scoring. Top performers take home cash and in-kind support including legal services, mentorship, and marketing packages.

Amanda has been building something special, and this is her moment. Help us send her high-fives! 👇

Big news out of the Ascent 2026 cohort. 📣

Peaks Precast just landed a $100,000 IHIP Early-Stage Business Pathway Grant, and we are so here for it.

Peaks Precast is headquartered right here in Buena Vista, Colorado, manufacturing modular precast concrete foundation systems that are cutting construction timelines and helping solve Colorado's housing challenges, one foundation at a time.

"The preparation and guidance I received through the accelerator and Demo Day gave me the confidence and tools needed to effectively position my company and successfully deliver my pitch to the panel." - Brent Wall, Founder, Peaks Precast

That's what Ascent is built for. Showing up for founders, equipping them with real tools, and watching them go win.

Congratulations, Brent. This is just the beginning.

Meet My Moon Kits, one of the standout companies from the 2026 Ascent Accelerator cohort.✨

Founded by two mamas and two daughters, My Moon Kit was born at the intersection of women's health expertise and lived experience. Co-founder Dr. Sarah Rothman is a board-certified Naturopathic Doctor, Acupuncturist, and women's health specialist with a clinical background deeply rooted in hormonal health, menstrual cycles, and the whole-body wellness of women and girls. Her co-founder Julia Dunbar brings the mother's perspective, the personal story, and the heart behind why this product had to exist. Together with their daughters, they built something the market was missing entirely.

My Moon Kit includes 13 thoughtfully curated, clean, and sustainable essentials designed to help girls feel prepared, celebrated, and empowered during one of life's most significant transitions. No shame. No hiding. Just ritual, sisterhood, and support. Next up: a proprietary period underwear line built from real feedback from real girls, and a subscription model to make ongoing support accessible to families everywhere.

This is not just a product. It's a movement. And we are proud to have supported the women building it.

One of our favorite 2026 Ascent cohort companies is Hearth Healing, and we couldn't be more excited to spotlight them today.

Laura, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board-Certified Women's Health Clinical Specialist based in Salida, founded Hearth because the standard of perinatal care simply wasn't good enough. Most women are cleared at six weeks, sent home, and left to figure out the rest on their own. The pain, the disconnection, the confusion - normalized, minimized, or ignored entirely.

Hearth was built to change that. Through the Deep Core Restore Method, Laura helps pregnant and postpartum women eliminate pain, rebuild real core strength, and return to the physical activities they love, without leaving home, without a waiting room, and without needing childcare. Personalized. DPT-designed. Built around your body, your birth, and your life.

This is exactly the kind of company the Ascent Accelerator exists to support. Community-rooted, purpose-driven, filling a real need, and built right here in rural Colorado.

Chaffee_Remote is spending the summer at The Beach!

From May through August, our monthly remote worker meetup is moving riverside to one of Buena Vista's favorite gathering spots. Come as you are, grab a drink or a bite, and spend an hour or two with people who actually get what it means to work from anywhere.

If you're freelancing, building something, or just tired of talking to your houseplants, this is your crowd. Every third Thursday, 5:30-7:00 PM at The Beach in Buena Vista.

See you next week, May 21st! 🥂

In case you missed it - now you don't have to. 🎬

On April 16th, eleven Chaffee County founders took the stage at the SteamPlant Event Center and gave it everything they had. Ark Valley Signs, Cherokee Bloom Flower & Herb Farm, DivideGraph, DogGurt, Elemental 5, Hearth Healing, My Moon, Omni-Board, Peaks Precast, Salida Sunshine Botanicals, and Sky View Tents. One night. Eleven pitches. A room full of people cheering for every single one of them.

This is what it looks like when a community invests in itself. The 2026 Ascent Accelerator Demo Day is a testament to the talent, grit, and vision growing right here in the Arkansas Valley.

Presented by Collegiate Peaks Bank, Division of Glacier Bank, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, Chaffee County, Colorado, and the City of Salida.

On April 28, the EDC, CCCF, and SBDC came together for a Profit with Purpose panel - and the room was full. Over 60 people gathered to hear leaders from Colorado Gives Foundation, Monarch Mountain, and Coffee by Topo share how they approach charitable giving and why it matters.

The takeaway is simple. When businesses give back, everyone wins.

Boost your brand. Build community goodwill. Improve employee morale and retention. Open doors to new connections and partnerships. Because business giving isn't just good for the community - it's good for business.

In case you missed it, Buena Vista is at the center of a housing innovation story worth paying attention to.

Fading West is rethinking how homes are built, literally from the ground up. Less waste. Faster timelines. Consistent quality. And a model that could make a real dent in Colorado's housing crisis.

Earlier this year our very own Frannie Matthews sat down with Fading West's Eric Schaefer on The Business of Colorado, a segment on PBS12's Studio Twelve, to dig into how it all works and why it matters for communities like ours.

Watch the segment here: https://heyor.ca/ZUoxNq

Funding for The Business of Colorado on PBS12 is provided in part by Collegiate Peaks Bank.
