We love participating in this event every year, its such a good way to give back to a community that supports and loves Sarge as much as we do!

Come join us on our new date, October 17th. This event is to raise money for Shop with a Cop. Will are having a 9-hole 4-person golf scramble ($25 per player), silent auction, and business after hours at the Golf Cabin Bar & Grill! Golf scramble will begin at 2pm. Call 719-539-1060 to reserve a spot for your team. You do not need to play golf to attend the business after hours and silent auction.

We have sent officers out in the community to solicit donations from local businesses. If we have missed you and you would like to donate items for the silent auction, please call us at 719-539-6880. We will swing by to meet with you or you can drop someting off at Salida PD. Hope you can join us to support this wonderful community event.

K9 Sarge has deployed 8 times in the last week, both within city limits and while assisting the Chaffee County SO. These deployments resulted in the seizures of a firearm, illegally possessed prescription narcotics, paraphernalia, methamphetamine and one arrest for distribution. Sarge has been hard at work, but if there's one thing he always has time for, its a little bit of play time!

Let's go Spartans!

A little friendly wager with our friends at Salida Police Department. Chief Russ Johnson, the Buena Vista Demons football team plays the Salida Spartans next Friday night, August 29th, in Buena Vista at 7:00 PM. How about if the Demons win, you have to wear a Demons wristband for a week, and if the Spartans win, I'll wear a Spartans wristband for a week? Also, if the Demons win, you take me to one of Salida's fine dining establishments, and if the Spartans win, I'll take you to one of Buena Vista's fine dining establishments?

We're excited for this game between both of these great football teams, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, thought we'd make it a little interesting between the two police departments. We hope to see you all at the game. 🇺🇸😈🇺🇸

Apologies for the lack of posts on Sarge, its been a busy summer! He's still here, happy to meet everyone on these nice evenings we've been having. If you see us out and about, always feel free to stop by!

Last night, a CCSO Deputy made a traffic stop and requested assistance from K9 Sarge and his handler. Sarge was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. A search revealed drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Both occupants were arrested. Good boy Sarge!!

Sarge had a great time seeing everyone at Bluegrass on the Arkansas! He got a bunch of pets and belly rubs, which were definitely his favorite part of the day!

Later that night, Sarge assisted CCSO Deputies on a traffic stop, resulting in the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and many other pieces of drug paraphernalia. All three occupants were cited on various charges. Good boy Sarge!

It was great to see everyone at FIBark this year. Sarge loved all of the pets and cuddles! We hope everyone had a fun and safe time, thank you all for coming to visit Salida!

As some of you may know, K9 AJ was Sarges father. Rest easy good boy

We are saddened to announce the passing of retired K9, AJ. This good boy was the loyal partner of Sgt. Eckhardt from 2013 to 2019 and specialized in explosive detection and suspect apprehension. AJ’s accomplished so much during his career, working with the ACSO SWAT team and the Patrol Division to help take suspects into custody, and to find hidden fi****ms.

K9 AJ also had the chance to work at many major events as an explosive detection dog. He performed sweeps at the Bolder Boulder, the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championship in Vail, and the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. AJ even got to climb Mt. Elbert.

ACSO extends our deepest condolence to AJ’s family during this time. We are forever grateful for his service.

Last night, SPD officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation. The driver was found to be unlicensed and the vehicle was uninsured. Sarge was deployed and alerted. A search of the vehicle revealed fentanyl, methamphetamine and paraphernalia. The driver was cited and the vehicle was subsequently towed. Good boy Sarge!
