**Help Your Child Get Ready for Chromebook Collection**

As we prepare for Chromebook collection, we kindly ask all parents to please check their child’s device before it is returned.


Make sure your child is returning:

*Their assigned Chromebook

*Their assigned Lenovo charger

*Their Hotspot (if assigned)

If the Chromebook is damaged or the charger is missing or broken, please stop by the front office as soon as possible.



Return Dates by Grade Level:

8th Grade: Friday, May 22nd (during Math class)

6th & 7th Grade: Tuesday, May 26th (during PE class)

Please note: Missing or damaged items could result in an invoice being sent home.

Today our middle school students got a firsthand look at their futures during an incredible College & Career Fair! 🎓✨

From exploring career pathways to asking real-world questions, our students left inspired and motivated about what’s possible after middle school.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing community partners who made this experience so meaningful:
CHP, Salida Sheriff’s Department, AMR, MJC, UC Merced, MID, MJC Dental Assisting Department, Stanislaus Public Defenders, DeHart, Institute of Technology, DMC, and Local 3 Apprenticeship. Your time, knowledge, and encouragement made a lasting impact!

We also want to give a special shoutout to our dedicated school counselors and mental health clinician for organizing such a powerful and engaging event for our students. Your commitment to their future does not go unnoticed!

✨ We are proud to recognize our SMS students who participated in this week’s Culinary Cook-off!

• Lilly Lewis, 6th grade – Asian Inspired Ramen Bowl
• Ivienna Lewis, 8th grade – Onion Pasta Bake
• Julian Capell, 8th grade – White Chicken Chili

Although they did not take home the win, I had the opportunity to taste each of their dishes and was very impressed with the creativity, effort, and skill they demonstrated. I would gladly eat any of their creations again. They did a fantastic job showcasing their talents while proudly representing Salida Middle School.

✨ Twenty-six students from SMS were reclassified as English Proficient, which is a tremendous accomplishment and a milestone worth celebrating. Last night, we had the opportunity to recognize these students for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their learning.

This achievement reflects not only the students’ commitment but also the support of our teachers, staff, and families, who continue to encourage and guide them along the way.

Our counselors stopped by Mr. Day's classroom and got some great pictures!

Picture 1: SMS Students in Mr. Day’s Art class have been learning to weave this week and are creating fantastic tapestries from colored yarn.

Picture 2: Just a few simple techniques can get you started. Cash R. gets some instruction on interlocking two different colors of yarn.
