Chaffee County Sheriff's Office SHERIFF ANDY ROHRICH. Official page of the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office.

This page was created to share information and highlight the activities of our organization. Members of the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office are committed to providing the highest standard of service to our community and to the tens of thousands of visitors to our county each year. We recognize and profoundly appreciate the unique character of our valley home and its diversity of opportunities for

recreation, learning, and culture. As residents of the community ourselves, we understand that our mission requires that we perform not solely as enforcers of the law but as peace keepers, dispute mediators, and problem solvers as well.
**We reserve the right to remove any comments that are vulgar or disrespectful.
**Our patches are purchased through the county general fund from taxpayer revenues. Regrettably, the increased costs of patches prohibit us from honoring requests for them.

Last week, our Co-response clinical team and deputy, two dispatchers, and our Patrol and SWAT Commander attended a 4-day Crisis Response Intervention Train the Trainer. CRIT, Crisis Response Intervention Training, expands upon existing Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) to include teaching modules on intellectual and developmental disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Colorado specific resources as part of it's curriculum. CRIT aims to increase officer safety, enhance understanding of behavioral health and disability-related needs, improve communication between first responders, and reduce adverse outcomes associated with law enforcement outcomes.

The training was paid for by grant awarded to our co-response team through the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice funded by a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant. An intended goal of the funding was collaboration between law enforcement, public safety answering points (dispatchers), and local service providers to meet the needs of individuals in crisis and equip local first responder agencies to train their staff using the CRIT model.

As part of the funding award, our six trainers will be hosting a 30-hour CRIT training this fall for local first responder agencies and sending 6 CCSO deputies and 2 dispatchers to this training. Our trainers will also invite our other local first responder agencies to attend.
