Elements Mountain Compost LLC

Elements Mountain Compost LLC Compost & Soil Amendments In our high river valley climate, nutrient rich soil is difficult to obtain.

Our mission is to use the limited carbon bi-products that would otherwise be sent to the landfill, as the main source of cellulose. Whether you're a backyard gardener, professional landscaper, or local farmer, Elements Mountain Compost can create a concoction for you. We're developing everything from potting soil to high-nutrient compost to make your soil work for you. Stay tuned for more info as we refine our recipes and have product available next season.

Nice job, ! We collected A LOT from y'all, and we so appreciate your efforts. Big ups to & for all your work, and cheers to creating memories, not WASTE! ✨

Instead of being condemned to life in a landfill, your plates & leftovers have become useable material again- food for hungry microbes who will in turn transform them into more food for our food 🍅🌱! Closing the loop on food waste is cool, tell your friends. 🤙🏼

Our first tree in our new planter... so proud! 🥹

A big ask during such a hot summer, but we made sure to amend our topsoil with compost to keep his roots moist & nutrient-rich, and we'll be doing our best to keep him safe from the windy conditions up here! We got this.

Local scraps, local soil- and we mean it! We’d like to highlight (as if they need an introduction) one of our commercial composters- ! Topo is a woman & queer-owned coffee and third space, which invites folks from all identities & backgrounds to feel safe & respected as they sip, munch, work, chat, and hang. ✌🏼

Running her business sustainably is also important to Katy, the owner. We asked why she chooses to compost.

"Topo chooses to compost not only because of its impact on the environment but also its impact on people. When customers spend a little more money here, they can rest assured that their choice aligns with their values. They are supporting us, which supports the sustainability of our watershed, the earth, and local livelihoods."

We're grateful to partner with businesses like Topo that put intention into action every day. Next time you're grabbing a coffee & burrito, know your leftovers are helping to grow healthier local soil for our community. Thanks Topo, for leading by example and making composting part of your everyday impact! ☕🥯♻️🌱

Elements Compost is proud to be a part of the Colorado Green Business Network! We are happy to report that we recently received re-certification as a Silver Level Member. 🥈

One of the ways we made our daily operations more sustainable in 2025 was through the installation of 3-phase power at our site. 🔌 It might sound like a small change, but 3-Phase is more efficient than single phase, and will allow for more electric conversion of our equipment in the future. Additionally, this upgrade made it possible to power our trommel sifter with electricity as opposed to using a gas generator, which is MUCH quieter, doesn’t produce any smoke, and is more reliable! We estimate that this saves about 100 gallons of gas per year, or roughly 1 MT of CO2e. 💨 We also installed a 50amp circuit for EV level 2 charging, which will help to facilitate future fleet transition! Let’s go! ⚡

We really appreciate being a part of the CGBN, both for the guidance as well as the community. If you’re interested in learning more about us, and/or looking for info on how you can run your business more sustainably with the Colorado Green Business Network, check out the links in bio!

We totally get it- we wish everything in our garbage was compostable, too! 🗑🚯

Unfortunately, our system will only break down yard waste, the food scraps on our accepted materials list, & BPI-certified compostable products. When you throw your garbage in our bins (looking at you, 4th of July!) it doesn't go anywhere, and we have to dig it out manually (translation: go dumpster diving). This up valuable takes time & energy, and is- you know, gross. 😬

We know everyone generally does their best, so consider this a gentle reminder! Please respect our compost bins, and only toss in what we can break down. 🫶🏼 We are always happy to answer questions about materials if you're not sure!

Fire season reminds us how connected we are to the land, and provides yet another reason behind why we do what we do. Small actions may not change the weather, but they do help create to a stronger, more resilient community. Our hearts are with our neighbors in Leadville, along with those working to contain the multiple fires burning across Colorado this week. 💞
