Elements Mountain Compost LLC Compost & Soil Amendments In our high river valley climate, nutrient rich soil is difficult to obtain.

Our mission is to use the limited carbon bi-products that would otherwise be sent to the landfill, as the main source of cellulose. Whether you're a backyard gardener, professional landscaper, or local farmer, Elements Mountain Compost can create a concoction for you. We're developing everything from potting soil to high-nutrient compost to make your soil work for you. Stay tuned for more info as we refine our recipes and have product available next season.

We recently completed our first full waste diversion event managing compost, recycling & trash at the Bluegrass on the Arkansas festival in Salida- nbd. 😎 We’ve collected compost from weddings, conferences, and festivals like FibArk in the past, but this year we sorted and separated all three streams, plus aluminum reusable cups! Check out the haul:

♻️ Recycling: ~1,000 lbs
🥤 Reusable cups: ~200 lbs
🍌 Compost: ~2,800 lbs
🗑 Trash: ~1,800 lbs

Huge thanks to our staff (Rook, Brian, and Julie) and volunteers (Tim, Harald, & Colby) who were HUSTLING to educate festival-goers and keep the streams clean! And big thanks to all of YOU for doing your part!

Okay so, we recognize that our last fun compost fact has little to nothing to do with us, but we really love it, so here goes:

Australian Brush Turkeys actually create compost piles in which to incubate their eggs; the heat from the microbial activity in the piles keeps their eggs warm! It is the males who actually build the compost piles, even taking temperature checks with their beaks & adding or removing materials to maintain a perfect incubation temp!

It's true, once you start, you truly can't un-see how much waste we create that could be composted! Every bit of organic waste we keep out of the landfill makes a difference- and that’s what it’s all about. 🌍♻️

Today's fun (and slightly icky) ICAW fact:

Composting goes way beyond food scraps and leaves. You can also compost things like dryer lint, cotton balls, hair, and even pet fur!
