Compost & Soil Amendments In our high river valley climate, nutrient rich soil is difficult to obtain.

Our mission is to use the limited carbon bi-products that would otherwise be sent to the landfill, as the main source of cellulose. Whether you're a backyard gardener, professional landscaper, or local farmer, Elements Mountain Compost can create a concoction for you. We're developing everything from potting soil to high-nutrient compost to make your soil work for you. Stay tuned for more info as we refine our recipes and have product available next season.

Watch out world, the best pasta joint in town just started composting! 🍝🌱

Lago Trattoria’s sister restaurant SHAVANO has composted with us since opening, so we know they’re already old pros. We’re pumped to have them in our piles, they really needed some extra garlic! 🧄

Aaaand that’s a wrap on another events season! This was a big one.

Over the summer, we helped divert 51,169 pounds of organic waste (or about 64 cubic yards) across 26 events throughout our region. For reference, that’s the equivalent of two school buses, or between 40-50 truck beds! 🤯

From music festivals and races to weddings, community dinners, arts festivals, and everything in between, we saw firsthand that big gatherings can have a lighter footprint, even with hundreds or thousands of attendees!

A huge thank you to every partner, vendor, volunteer, and event-goer who helped make this season such a success. It’s your dedication & commitment that makes waste diversion possible at this level, and we’re stoked to be growing the zero-waste movement and closing the loop on food waste with you! ♻️

Time for another commercial composter highlight! We love Tres Litros B**r Company for many reasons, and their commitment to waste diversion is definitely one of them.

Tres Litros not only composts, but also recycles, plus they reuse pallets, packaging material, plastic can rings, grain bags, and anything else they possibly can. Both of their food vendors, Red Light Rations and Nice & Toasty, also choose to purchase BPI-certified compostable materials so all of their waste can be composted as well! True heroes over there!

When we asked owner Jason Maxwell why Tres composts, he told us, “It’s simply the right thing to do. We’ve always strived to keep waste out of our landfill, and compostable materials can be turned into fertile, useable soil that is great for local gardeners to amend our typically dry and rocky soil. It’s a win-win.”

We so appreciate our commercial composters who make sustainability part of their everyday operations. Businesses like Tres Litros are a great reminder that keeping materials out of the landfill doesn’t have to be complicated! It just takes a little intention, a little creativity, and a willingness to do things differently.

Fall is the season for putting the garden to rest 💤 and a little compost now can make a big difference come spring.

Our Early Bird Fall Compost Sale is running now through September 30th! Compost application is a simple way to return nutrients to the soil and help your garden rest well through the winter, so spread a final layer over your beds to enrich tired soil and prepare them for next year. 🍂

We’re excited to introduce Skyler as the newest member of the Elements Mountain Compost team! Skyler has been composting from a young age, with hands-on experience ranging from large agricultural projects to Denver Parks & Recreation, where he helped manage over 15 parks, collected compost from local restaurants, and worked in compost application, too! 🌱

Skyler brings a practical, problem-solving mindset to the team. He’s naturally list-oriented and organized, but always ready to jump in and tackle whatever challenge comes up. Luckily, Skyler reports he would rather be doing this than anything else, so we’re stoked to have him! When he isn't working, playing disc golf is his favorite way to unwind with his dog Alita, who I'm very disappointed to say we don't have a photo of. 🐶
