Congratulations to Brandon Befort, a Special Education teacher at Coronado Elementary, for receiving a Joan Barhydt Special Education Grant for next year!
With the diverse needs of our students and the ever-changing supports they require, access to a variety of sensory tools in classrooms would enable them to receive instruction for academic growth. The grant will help purchase sensory tools, which will allow students to meet their sensory needs with fewer disruptions and distractions during the school day. Benefits include but are not limited to stress reduction, enhanced focus, sensory skill development, learning support, emotional regulation, and motor skill improvement. Sensory tools provide controlled sensory experience with processing challenges. It creates a calm environment to ease stress and anxiety in a safe, structured setting and promotes sensory integration and skill development.
Congratulations to all our grant recipients, and a huge thank you to our donors who make grants like these possible! To read the complete list of grant recipients, please visit our website - https://salinaeducationfoundation.com/grant-recipients
