🌾 Leadership in Conservation: Meet Commissioner Jason Kern
Please join us in welcoming Jason Kern, newly elected State Conservation Commissioner

Jason brings over 21 years of experience serving on the Saline County Conservation District Board of Supervisors, along with a strong background in farming and ranching in western Saline County. His operation includes an Angus-based cow/calf herd, diversified crop rotation, and a commitment to no-till and conservation-minded practices.

Driven by the belief to “leave it better than you found it,” Jason is passionate about stewardship, improving water quality, and building stronger relationships within the agricultural community. His dedication earned him recognition as a “Guardian of the Grasslands” in 2023 for his work removing invasive trees from native prairie.
Beyond his operation, Jason stays actively involved in agriculture through Farm Bureau, AFA, and local FFA support—helping shape the next generation of leaders.
We’re excited to see the knowledge and leadership Jason brings to the State Conservation Commission.
