Cadet Capt. Bailey Gray and Cadet Lt. Col. Maddux Haar represented Civil Air Patrol Kansas Wing through a presentation highlighting the accomplishments, leadership opportunities, and experiences available to CAP cadets.

Both cadets demonstrated the depth of leadership and professional development that can come through the Civil Air Patrol cadet program. Their experiences include encampments, Cadet Advisory Council leadership, National Cadet Special Activities, cadet officer training, and service in leadership positions.

We are proud to see Kansas Wing cadets developing into confident leaders and representing Civil Air Patrol with professionalism and dedication.

Cadets interested in serving on staff are encouraged to submit their applications for upcoming cadet staff positions. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, take on greater responsibility, mentor fellow cadets, and contribute to the success of the cadet program.

Congratulations 🎉 🎊 to Cadet Captain Zachary Pippert on earning the Earhart Award, a key milestone in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.

The Earhart Award signifies completion of Phase III and reflects Cadet Capt Pippert’s commitment to leadership, aerospace education, character development, physical fitness, and service. Throughout his cadet career, he has demonstrated leadership by mentoring junior cadets, assisting with cadet activities, and representing Civil Air Patrol at National Legislative Day. He also exhibits admiral resiliency in the face of challenges, consistently maintaining a positive and determined attitude.

Earning both the Earhart Award and the grade of Cadet Captain recognizes his hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Congratulations on this well-earned achievement and continued commitment to developing future leaders.

Today, members of the Kansas Wing Civil Air Patrol had the opportunity to meet with U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and share the impact Civil Air Patrol has across Kansas. Senator Marshall currently represents Kansas in the U.S. Senate.

From developing cadets through leadership, character, aerospace education, and service to supporting emergency services and communities throughout our state, Civil Air Patrol continues to prepare the next generation while serving today.

A special thank you to Senator Roger Marshall and his office for taking the time to meet with our Civil Air Patrol members, listen to our cadets, and learn more about the work being accomplished throughout the Kansas Wing. We appreciate the opportunity to share our mission, the value of the Cadet Program, and the importance of investing in opportunities that develop Kansas youth into tomorrow’s leaders.

Join us at the Kansas Wing Conference for a day of learning, leadership, and hands-on training designed specifically for Civil Air Patrol cadets. This year’s Cadet Activities program features engaging presentations on first aid, encampment preparation, taekwondo, honor guard, and cybersecurity, all led by accomplished cadet leaders. The weekend also includes a Friday evening meet-and-greet with a pizza party and movie, followed by opportunities to build friendships during Saturday’s social hour.

Whether you’re preparing for your first encampment, looking to expand your leadership skills, or simply want to connect with fellow cadets from across Kansas, this conference offers valuable training in a fun and supportive environment. This week at the Topeka Composite Squadron, Capt. Tim Graham introduced our cadets to the exciting world of small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS). Through hands-on flight instruction, cadets learned the fundamentals of drone operations and how Civil Air Patrol employs sUAS technology to support emergency services, disaster response, aerial reconnaissance, damage assessment, and search missions.

Participating in this training were Cadet MSgt Violet Toepfer, Cadet SMSgt Arabella Protheroe, Cadet 2d Lt Kaleb Lawrence, Cadet Airman First Class Bryleigh Spyker, Cadet 2d Lt Joshua Britton, Cadet TSgt Dean Carlson, and Cadet TSgt Christopher Lunsford. Their enthusiasm and commitment to learning demonstrate the dedication of our cadets as they develop valuable aerospace and emergency services skills.

Training like this also introduces cadets to the requirements for earning Civil Air Patrol sUAS Technician mission qualifications, preparing them to support real-world missions while building leadership, teamwork, and technical expertise.

The future of aviation is here, and these cadets are ready to answer the call.
