Huge respect for these students from McPherson High School who came out today to see if they have what it takes for Air Force Special Warfare.

From max pull-ups to gut-check runs, they left it all on the track and in the gym. This isn't for everyone. It's for the 1% who refuse to quit.

Most people look for the easy way out. But elite warriors look for the hill. 🏔️🥾

A 20 km ruck march isn’t just about putting 35 lbs on your back and walking. It’s a mental battle. By kilometer 5, your shoulders ache. By kilometer 10, your feet are burning. By kilometer 15, your mind is begging you to stop.

But if you want to wear the beret in U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, that mental battle is where you have to thrive.

From small-town Kansas to the world and back again. ✈️

People often ask why I joined the Air Force. For me, the answer starts right here in Kansas. Growing up as an Army kid, I spent time all over, but my roots are in places like Manhattan, Colby, and Turon. After high school, I spent two years in the food industry, making $7.25 an hour and realizing it wasn't enough to build a future or support a family.

I needed a change. I walked into a recruiter's office looking for a stable career and walked out with an opportunity I never thought possible—a chance to work with our nation's most powerful weapon systems.

That single decision launched a journey that has lasted over 14 years. It took me from Basic Training, to tech school at what is now Vandenberg Space Force Base, and then to Minot, North Dakota, for over a decade. In that time, I didn't just have a job; I built a career. I promoted from a hands-on technician to a Security Manager, and eventually to a Maintenance Production Superintendent, leading teams responsible for a critical global mission.

Now, after all that adventure and growth, the Air Force has brought me full circle—right back home to Kansas, to help other young Kansans write their own story.

From the world's largest airshow to the fundamentals of leadership, the future of aerospace is in good hands with the Salina Civil Air Patrol!

We want to give a huge shoutout to these sharp cadets, who just returned from an incredible trip to the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow. But the training never stops!

As soon as they got back, they were right back at it, diving into leadership and team-building exercises. This activity, which requires blindfolded cadets to navigate a "minefield" using only verbal commands from their teammates, is a powerful lesson in trust, communication, and clear direction—skills that are essential for any future leader.

As the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol is a premier training ground for young people interested in aviation, STEM, and military service. The skills these cadets are learning today are exactly what we look for in our future Airmen and Guardians.

And he’s off to master the science of precision! ✈️📐

Please join us in wishing a huge congratulations and farewell to Anthony Fickes () from McPherson, KS, who ships out for U.S. Air Force Basic Military Training today!

Anthony is taking a monumental step to serve his country, trading his civilian shoes for combat boots. After conquering BMT, he will head to technical school to join an elite group of specialists in Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL)!

🛠️ What is PMEL?
PMEL specialists are the unsung heroes of flight line safety and mission success. They calibrate, analyze, and repair the hyper-precise measurement tools used on everything from fighter jets and global satellites to advanced weapons systems. If a measurement is off by even a fraction of a millimeter, planes don't fly—and that's where Anthony comes in.

Iron sharpens iron! ⚔️

I spent the past week in Chesterfield, MO, for a fantastic joint training event with my fellow Air Force recruiters from across the region.

Just like the Airmen we recruit, we are constantly learning, collaborating, and honing our skills to be the best possible resource for future leaders. From professional development sessions to team-building challenges, we covered it all to ensure we can provide the best guidance to those looking to join the Air Force and Space Force.

It was an incredible opportunity to share best practices and strengthen our team. Now, I'm back in my home zone, energized and ready to put this training into action!

It takes a team to build an elite warrior. ⚔️

This is what it looks like to step into the arena and test your mettle for a spot in U.S. Air Force Special Warfare. We had some highly motivated individuals in Wichita giving it their all today, pushing their physical and mental limits to see if they have what it takes to join the world's most elite fighting force.

This event wouldn't be possible without a dedicated team. A huge thank you to Amn Truex and Amn Carmen Castillo, who are back in their hometown on the Recruiter's Assistance Program (RAP). They are giving back by helping MSgt Lindgren mentor and train the next generation of Airmen before they even ship out.

From the intense focus during the run to the critical coaching from the sidelines, this is what our Air Force is all about: pushing to be your best while lifting up those around you.

We are incredibly proud of Daniel for taking this monumental step to serve his country. He is trading his civilian shoes for combat boots and beginning the transformation into a United States Airman.

After conquering BMT, Daniel will continue on to technical training to master his new career as a Health Services Management Apprentice (4A031). In this vital role, he'll be at the heart of our medical operations, managing patient care, medical records, and ensuring our force stays healthy and ready for any mission.
