The Smoky Hills Audubon Society mourns the passing of Dan Baffa, a dedicated leader, tireless volunteer, and true friend of wildlife.

Dan served two terms as president of the Smoky Hills Audubon Society, providing thoughtful and impactful leadership to the organization. He helped lead numerous Christmas Bird Counts, hosted our monthly meetings at Kansas Wesleyan University, and for several years served as the primary custodian of the Harold Lear Wildlife Sanctuary, giving generously of his time to help care for a place that meant so much to our members and the wildlife it protects.

We are grateful for Dan's years of service, his leadership, and especially his friendship. His presence made a difference, and he will be deeply missed.

Smoky Hills Audubon has planned a workday for this Sunday afternoon from noon till 4 o’clock. The public is invited to come out to the sanctuary. We can use the help maintaining our trails, especially through the wooded areas. If it’s your first time out, come out walk around and see what there is that you can help with. You can come and go as you please. Elijah will have a list of things you can help with.
