We were honored to host our 3rd Annual Retiree Breakfast this past Saturday.

It was a great opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and recognize the people who helped shape our department and our community through their years of service. We are grateful for the time, dedication, and legacy our retirees continue to represent.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning special. We always value the chance to stay connected with those who have given so much to the fire service and to the City of Salina.

Salina Fire Department Safety Message

🔥Don’t store items on your stovetop. 🔥

Stovetops are for cooking — not storage.
Boxes, bags, towels, food containers, and other household items can catch fire quickly if a burner is turned on by mistake or if the surface is still hot.
Help prevent kitchen fires:
• Keep burners and stovetops clear
• Store combustibles away from cooking areas
• Double-check that burners are off after use
• Keep a close eye on anything near heat sources

Keep it clear. Keep your home safe.

Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters | April 26 - May 3, 2026

This week, we join departments and communities across the country in honoring America’s fallen firefighters.

From April 26 through May 3, Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters is a time to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty, honor their sacrifice, and support the families, friends, and fellow firefighters who carry their memory forward.

We invite our community to take part by lighting your home, porch, or business in red throughout the week as a sign of remembrance and respect.

Their service will not be forgotten.

This week, the Salina Fire Department proudly recognizes and thanks our Salina Dispatchers for the incredible work they do every single day.

Before crews arrive on scene, before the first apparatus rolls out, and before the public ever sees a responder, our dispatchers are already at work. They are the calm voice in the middle of chaos, the steady link between the public and emergency services, and the unseen first first responders who help keep our community and our crews safe.

Their professionalism, focus, compassion, and quick decision-making make a difference on every call. We are grateful for the long hours, the difficult moments, and the commitment they bring to serving Salina.

To all of our dispatchers, thank you for everything you do for the Salina Fire Department and for the City of Salina and Saline County.
