The Saline County Sheriff's Office & Salina Police Department will be hosting the Basic Citizens Academy starting September 2nd every Wednesday evening through November 10th. The Saline County Sheriff's Office is having their annual BBQ in support of Special Olympics. Come out and support the Saline County Blue Thunder Special Olympics Team August 6 & 7 from 11am - 2pm at the Saline County 4-H Building!

This morning I had the opportunity to present Deputy Alycia Buchanan with a Commendation for her recent lifesaving actions.

On June 9th, 2026, Deputy Alycia Buchanan responded to a medical call of “heart problems” in rural Saline County.
Upon Deputy Buchanan’s arrival, she was led to the patient who was not breathing. Deputy Buchanan immediately connected the patient to her issued Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and she administered two rounds of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) until she was relieved by Medics.
Due to Deputy Buchanan’s calm and decisive lifesaving techniques, Salina EMS transported the patient to Salina Regional Hospital for treatment.
The Saline County Sheriff Office would like to acknowledge Deputy Buchanan for her lifesaving actions and professionalism on June 9th, 2026.

This week Southeast of Saline held their 6th grade DARE graduation. School Resource Deputy Braden Long is assigned to Southeast of Saline and has built strong connections with the school community. Congratulations 6th graders!

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration Team Up for the 29th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saline County Sheriff's Office Deputies will be at 3 locations in the City of Salina to receive old and unneeded medications.

Dillons 1235 E Cloud ST (Patio in front of Pharmacy Drive thru)

Walmart 2900 S 9th ST (South Front Entrance)

Salina Regional Health Center 400 S Santa Fe Ave (Circle Drive)

Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
