Lakewood Discovery Center Our mission is to develop environmentally educated citizens by providing a unique setting which nurtures curiosity and interest of nature.

Lakewood Discovery Center is a division of the City of Salina Department of Parks and Recreation dedicated to developing environmentally educated citizens. LDC is FREE to visit during business hours and hosts a wide range of creatures including snakes, owls, turtles, and fish. News from Lakewood!

Due to a power outage, the Lakewood programs Backyard Detectives and Lakewood Greenthumbs are canceled.

Archery will still be held and will meet in the front parking lot of the main park.

Join us on June 6 for the Cops and Bobbers Fishing Derby!

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. at the North Shore Shelter, and fishing runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Prize drawings will follow the derby, and the fun continues with bounce houses and food trucks until 5:00 p.m.

Be sure to register to be eligible for the prize drawing. The first 50 pre-registered participants in each age group will receive a prize. Walk-up registrations are welcome.

Bring the family and come enjoy a great day of fishing and fun. 🎣
