Monterey County SELPA continues its efforts working and supporting LEAs around Monterey County. Salinas City Elementary School District Professional Learning Community of Education Specialists gather to learn the use of the new curriculum supporting students with diverse learning needs. SCESD is a dedicated group of professionals who come together monthly for the ongoing process in which the Education Specialists work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. Professional learning communities work together for continuous job-embedded learning for educators that in turn provide education benefits to our youth.

Monterey County SELPA continues its efforts working and supporting LEAs around Monterey County. Alisal Union School District Professional Learning Community of Education Specialists. The dedicated group of professionals comes together monthly for the ongoing process in which the Education Specialists work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. Professional learning communities operate under the assumption that the key to improved learning for students is continuous job-embedded learning for educators.

Parent/Caregiver Workshops

Monterey County SELPA is working to meet the changing needs of our community through the delivery of an increased number of training opportunities for families and caregivers. The workshops and training opportunities listed on this menu will be facilitated and/or presented by SELPA staff. Select any workshop listed on this menu to register directly for the training. These workshops will be offered monolingually in English or Spanish or bilingually with simultaneous translation. Be sure to read the flyer information and register for the opportunities that meet your language preference.

The SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meets regularly to discuss topics of interest to parents and community members who take an active interest in all matters concerning special education in Monterey County. The CAC reviews and makes recommendations relating to the SELPA Local Plan and participates in other activities to support students with disabilities in our area. The CAC also assists SELPA in developing the parent education program. The East Valley SELPA is hosting a two-day, virtual event for parents and educators focused on enhancing the long-term relationship we share and promoting success for children with disabilities. Join us to learn about the IEP journey as we hear from experts in the field addressing how to build skills to support one another, build trust, and center positive relationships on student needs. There will be opportunities for live interactions with experts as well as invaluable resources available.
