The SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meets regularly to discuss topics of interest to parents and community members who take an active interest in all matters concerning special education in Monterey County. The CAC reviews and makes recommendations relating to the SELPA Local Plan and participates in other activities to support students with disabilities in our area. The CAC also assists SELPA in developing the parent education program. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., MCOE Room B and via Zoom webinar: https://montereycoe.zoom.us/j/98835510299

Special Kids Connect and Monterey County SELPA are hosting their 4th Annual Back-to-School Special Education Conference NOW on ZOOM for parents and guardians of school-age children and young adults, ages 3–22, with special education needs.

The conference will take place on Saturday, August 22, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM via Zoom.

Shout out to the members of the Voices of the Amazing A from Alisal High School. They were part of a student panel that shared their lived perspectives as autistic students. They shared their own experiences and provided suggestions to educators who were in attendance at Monterey County's Inclusive Learning Community of Practice. This event was hosted by Monterey County Educational Services Department.
