Happy New Year!

We went out to Fort Ord today to get the horses some exercise to build up their endurance and a little sensory with the bikes, bridges, and GOATS!

We also spotted from our high vantage point a vehicle key lying on the trail. We collected it and later found the owner stranded in the parking lot. They were very happy to get their key back so they could go home.

We look forward to seeing y’all in 2025!

Our Rural Mounted Course at Lake San Antonio this weekend was a huge success!

The students learned equitation, sensory, mapping skills, patient extractions, search patterns, crime scene investigations, tracking and enjoyed the great sunrises and sunsets.

We would like to thank everyone that attended the course, and Western States Mounted Officers Association for allowing us to host this course.

Thank you Greenfield FFA for helping serve a steak dinner to our class students.

Our unit recently attended Mounted School in Temecula with Western States Mounted Officers Association.

One of our deputies and horses attended the Update course, a second attended the Instructor course, and two taught the Basic course to other agencies from across California and Arizona.

Our unit learned a lot during the week and connected with many other Mounted Units across the nation.

We only have a few more open spots left in our Rural mounted course next month. If you are interested, get signed up!

Our unit completed an overnight search and rescue training alongside the Monterey County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team last weekend. We practiced GPS waypoint training, grid searches on horseback, and exposed the horses to CHP - Air Operations lifting people overhead.
