Dr. Newman Guss is a life-long educator with a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. She was a classroom teacher for 10 years, including two years as a teacher in a bilingual program in South Central Los Angeles. Dr. Newman Guss was also a mentor teacher for new teachers and a master teacher for teacher candidates completing their student teaching experience. Throughout her 30-year career sp

an, Dr. Newman Guss has served in numerous administrative posts including: Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Associate Superintendent of Educational Services and as District Superintendent of the Soledad Unified School District from 2010-2013. Today, she continues her strong advocacy for the teaching profession as Deputy Superintendent for the Monterey County Office of Education since 2013. Parents, teachers and administrators all agree that Dr. Newman Guss is a leader who can prepare students for the rigors of college and career upon graduation from Monterey County schools.
