Modern Day Pterodactyl, also known as a Great Blue Heron.

I love these almost as much as the Eagles, with their majestic wings and voracious appetite. They will eat just about anything they can catch, whether on water or land. These photos were taken in several areas around the lake that we can only reach by boat.

Catching them in flight is always a challenge, but I managed to get several good shots. They are incredibly sleek and seem to know exactly how to use those wings to their advantage.

Several photos of eagles in various locations. We watched and waited, hoping for the opportunity to see one grab a meal, but that quest continues. We still enjoyed hours in their company, capturing hundreds of photos along the way.

Tip: if you’re watching an eagle and notice it p**ps, get your camera ready! They’re literally lightening the load before taking flight. I was able to capture several good aerial shots once I recognized the signal.

We wanted to drive through "Dixville Notch" thinking there might be a town square or such. Nope, it literally is a narrow notch with 10 to 12% inclines up and back down. Godzilla (7.3 liter RV engine) had fun as she was revving a lot going up the hills. In the background is the Balsams which is currently unoccupied and looking for a buyer. That is where the 13 residents vote for elections. Of course, Kitty gave us a great pose.

The Gray Catbird is a member of the Mockingbird family. Their natural song does indeed sound like the "Meow" of a cat. They will also mock other birds. I remember the time I heard a Robin close by and when I found it, it was one of these mimicking it! We also see these a lot at the lake.

The moon was providing plenty illumination so that I could view deep sky objects with my telescope, but I took some hand held photos. This is a single shot processed with Pixinsight.

The Robins and Song Sparrows were very active with food runs for their babies. I also noticed several p**p sacs coming out but did not catch that part in the act.

This is a Nashville Warbler. We typically see them during migration in April into May, but these are likely in this location for breeding. They are challenging to photograph with their rapid movement looking for bugs on the leaves. They typically stay well hidden so you need to follow them with the camera looking for that quick opportunity when they pop out from under the cover. This one is a male with the bright yellow chest.

Belted Kingfishers are amazing to watch as they perch patiently before diving for fish and other aquatic prey. We spotted this one perched, hoping to witness a dive, but it never made an attempt from this location.

This is a female, identifiable by the distinctive rust-colored band across her breast.

I'm also including a photo I took years ago that captures one with its catch!

We watched this beauty for about 30 minutes, hoping to witness it catch a meal, but it just wasn't meant to be. Eventually, it flew off to another fishing spot. Although my quest to photograph one making a successful catch continues, it more than made up for it by posing for plenty of wonderful photo opportunities along the way.
