🚨 POSSIBLE RABIES EXPOSURE — MOBILE PETTING ZOO 🚨

Rowan County Public Health is alerting the community after NCDHHS confirmed multiple cases of rabies in baby goats connected to Farm Adventures, a mobile petting zoo based in Iredell County.

📍 Did you visit Farm Adventures — at their Harmony, NC location or at an off-site event — between July 28 and August 27, 2026 and touch, hold, feed, or have direct contact with baby goats?

If so, please call us at 704-305-8636 to talk through your possible exposure and next steps.

There are currently no confirmed exposure locations within Rowan County. We're working closely with event organizers and NCDHHS to identify where exposures may have occurred, and we'll share updates here as we learn more.

🧠 A few facts about rabies:
It spreads through bites, scratches, or contact between infected saliva and broken skin, eyes, nose, or mouth
Early symptoms can include fever, headache, fatigue, and tingling near the exposure site
Symptoms can take weeks to months to appear
Once symptoms start, rabies is almost always fatal — but treatment given promptly after exposure is highly effective at preventing illness

Don't wait for symptoms. If you think you may have been exposed, call your health care provider or Rowan County Public Health.
