Because this has happened A LOT over the last couple weeks, and then to have folks complain & get mad (cursing at us) because we cannot immediately help with a problem YOU created, is downright rude & disrespectful. We are a small rescue with a handful of core VOLUNTEERS who ALL work full time jobs outside of kitten rescue. Impatience & disregard for that will not be toleratedโ€ฆ.as well as your messages to make us feel guilty for not helping soon enough.
The excuses are endless - and yes, weโ€™ve heard them all. But if you truly wanted to help the kittens GET THE MOM & DAD FIXED!!!! There are grants & organizations to help with this for FREEโ€ฆbut you do need to help yourself a little too. We cannot do all the research, work and transporting. Frankly, taking care of the kittens until we have space & a foster available is not that difficult if you really want to help them! Get a big crate, or set them up in a bathroom, etcโ€ฆ. And for the love of God and all thatโ€™s holy & mighty, STOP GIVING AWAY FREE KITTENS โ€ฆ especially when theyโ€™re too young, and weโ€™ve agreed to help & have simply asked you to give us a little time. YOU are adding to the overpopulation crisis! The people seeking a free kitten will likely not be responsible to get the kitten vetted, vaccinated, and fixed - hence, adding to the problem! Free kittens are not free!
I will also assure you, disrespecting one of our fosters is a sure way to never receive help from us!

Thank you to those who reach out, who are kind, understanding and patient - we appreciate you! We really are doing our best to help everyone we can! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Less than a week after Gov. Wes Moore released a list of Democratic endorsements that snubbed Senate President Bill Ferguson, the political arm of a prominent immigrant rights and advocacy group this week endorsed Ferguson as "the right leader moving forward."

๐Ÿšจ IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR MAIL-IN VOTERS ๐Ÿšจ
We recognize that mistakes can happen, and we thank the Maryland State Board of Elections for taking the steps to rectify this situation as quickly as possible. While ballot errors can be frustrating, the issue was identified publicly, the Board acknowledged a vendor printing mistake, immediately notified voters, and they are reissuing ballots to protect the integrity of our election.

If you requested a mail-in ballot for the Gubernatorial Primary Election, please read the crucial details below on how this is being handled and what you need to do next.

๐Ÿ” WHAT HAPPENED?
Due to a printing process error by a vendor, some voters were mailed the incorrect party ballot. This specific error only affects voters who were mailed a ballot before May 14, 2026. If you requested a mail-in ballot and signed up for email or text updates, you will receive a digital notification within the next day or two.

Additionally, every single voter who requested a mail-in ballot will receive an explanatory postcard in the mail detailing the situation.

๐Ÿ“‹ HOW TO PROCESS YOUR BALLOT
The Board of Elections is automatically mailing a second ballot to all affected voters, and these envelopes will be clearly marked as a โ€œReplacement Ballotโ€ when they go out on May 29.

If you still have your original ballot, the Board instructions are to responsibly discard it and wait to mail in the second ballot instead.

If you have already mailed in or dropped off your first ballot, you must still fill out and send in the replacement ballot when it arrives. Because the initial incorrect ballots have been deleted from the system to protect the integrity of the vote, your first ballot will not be counted. You must submit the replacement ballot to ensure your vote is securely counted.

We have some exciting news and developments in our journey to Save Connelly Mill Park! There was an overwhelming citizen response to the recent official Wicomico Parks Survey supporting the original vision for Connelly Mill Park - ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ง๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฅ ๐€๐ ๐ž๐ง๐๐š!โฃ

Following much of our collective advocacy efforts, Councilman James Winn held a Town Hall in Hebron last March. The community consensus was clear: residents prefer moving the Program Open Space designation from West Metro Core to Connelly Mill as originally proposed in 2021. Moving this designation just makes sense. Connelly Mill Park is proposed to be left in a mostly natural state, requiring very little money to bring to fruitionโ€”whereas West Metro Core was slated to be costly and would require tens of millions of dollars to establish.โฃ

๐‡๐„๐‘๐„ ๐ˆ๐’ ๐“๐‡๐„ ๐๐ˆ๐† ๐๐„๐–๐’! After months of waiting, this topic is finally being brought forward to the County Council! On ๐“๐ฎ๐ž๐ฌ๐๐š๐ฒ, ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, the Council will hold an Open Work Session regarding the Program Open Space Land Conversion from the West Metro Core property to the Connelly Mill Property. Steve Miller, the Director of Recreation, Parks & Tourism, will be presenting this item.โฃ

๐–๐„ ๐๐„๐„๐ƒ ๐˜๐Ž๐” ๐“๐‡๐„๐‘๐„! We encourage everyone to attend the meeting at ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ:๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐š.๐ฆ. ๐ข๐ง ๐‘๐จ๐จ๐ฆ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐†๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐Ž๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐ž ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐  and speak in support of this land conversion at the Public Comment section. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a favorable outcome at this Work Session. If all goes well, the next likely step will be scheduling a formal public hearing!โฃ

We will keep you all up to date and informed as this progresses. Thank you all for everything you have done to support and protect Connelly Mill Park!โฃ
