Quick Actions of Citizens and First Responders Help Save Woman Trapped Beneath Vehicle

Amesbury, MA - At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Officer Neil Moody responded to the area of Lake Attitash Road for a report of a woman pinned beneath a vehicle.

Officer Moody immediately began providing medical assistance. Citizens, Robert Manseau and Thomas Phillips, along with off-duty Salisbury Police Sergeant Keith Forget, helped lift the vehicle, while off-duty Merrimac Paramedic David Sherwood freed the woman and provided additional medical care until Amesbury Fire and Rescue arrived.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.

We especially recognize Mr. Manseau and Mr. Phillips for immediately stepping forward to assist in an extremely dangerous situation. Their actions helped free the woman and allowed her to receive further medical care.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Sergeant Forget, Officer Moody, Paramedic Sherwood, and all those who stepped forward to help.

This incident is a powerful example of community members coming together when help was needed. We are grateful for the courage and willingness to assist demonstrated by everyone involved.
