Today we're highlighting some more of the great times that were had at this year's Maryland Library Association. Wicomico Public Library was well-represented, as you can see here. Our director Seth and our assistant director Stephanie were both present, both Tisha and Laura both gave important presentations. They sure did us proud!

We here at Wicomico Public Library take great pride in what we do, and we also work hard to stay abreast of the important trends in library science. The fact that this year's conference took place at a gorgeous location like the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge was just a bonus.

If you've ever wondered what our library staff are doing when they're not at one of our branches, then wonder no more! Last week staff from all of our branches--Sarbanes, Centre, Riley, and Mobile--attended this year's Maryland Library Association Conference, which was held just up the road in Cambridge. This was an excellent professional development opportunity for our staff, as well as a chance for them to show off all of the great things we do at Wicomico Public Library.

Today we're highlighting the presentation from two of our staff, Rubab and Julia, who presented Black History Lives Here: Telling Our Stories. They both knocked it out of the park, highlighting one of the great programs hosted here at Wicomico Public Library.

Let's hear it for Julia and Rubab!

Here's your neat library fact of the day. The first storytime was held at the Hartford (Conn) Young Men's Institute, which would later become the Hartford Public Library. It was brought into being by Caroline Hewins.

Wicomico Public Library is proud to continue this legacy of storytimes, and we have several of our own for children of all ages. We hope you'll check some of them out!

A few weeks ago we here at Wicomico Public Library hosted local author Dan O'Hare for a conversation with our social media assistant TJ about Dan's novel, Water Dressed in Brown. We'll be sharing excerpts from this stimulating and wide-ranging conversation throughout the week, but for now we wanted to let you know the video in its entirety is now on our YouTube channel. If you have a chance do check it out, as it offers a fascinating opportunity to hear two local writers talking about craft, Delmarva, and the power of place in writing.
