Students, parents, and community members are invited to our Salisbury Youth Council Open House. Meet current members, learn about the council, hear about opportunities to get involved, and see how local youth are making a difference in Salisbury. The City of Salisbury Public Works Department will begin Asphalt Surface Treatment on several city streets the week of August 17. Work is expected to take approximately 2½ weeks, weather permitting.

Streets scheduled for treatment include:

Residents' Information: All vehicles must be removed from the street and street shoulders before construction begins each day. Vehicles that interfere with construction operations may be towed at the owner's expense.

Residents will continue to have access to their homes, but temporary delays may occur while crews are working. Please use caution in work zones and follow posted signs and directions from construction personnel.

Traffic Advisory: Multiple traffic signals along Jake Alexander Blvd, from the Mooresville Road area past Harrison Road, are currently not working.

Motorists are reminded: If a traffic signal is out, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Reminders:
-Slow down and stay alert.
-Never drive through standing water. Turn around, don’t drown.
-Watch for downed trees, debris and power lines. Call Duke Energy at 800-POWERON to report a power outage.

Use extra caution if traveling through the area and allow additional time to reach your destination.

The City of Salisbury invites you to attend a Public Information Session for the Main Street Streetscape Project. Attendees will have the opportunity to review the final project plans, see proposed improvements along the corridor, and speak directly with City staff and the project team.

Sessions will be held on Tuesday, August 18, in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 217 S. Main St. The one-hour information sessions will include dedicated times for specific groups.

• 10 - 11 a.m. - North Main Street property owners & businesses
• 11 a.m. - Noon - South Main Street property owners & businesses
• 1–2 p.m. - City staff
• 2–3 p.m. - General Public
