Pemberton Elementary Pemberton Elementary Pemberton Elementary School was built in 1950 to serve students in 10 classrooms.

In 2001 the building was renovated and expanded to 25 classrooms and serves three programs; Traditional grades Pre K – 5, Judy Center Y3/Pre-K/K, and one modified self-contained special education classroom. Pemberton serves a diverse population with varying socioeconomic status. In school year 2013-2014, 61% of the student population received free or reduced lunch and all students received the Mar

yland Meals for Readiness breakfast program. The instructional program is guided by the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards which were fully implemented in grades PreK – 5 during the 2013-2014 school year.

🤗🐼🥳 Our Competitive Destination Imagination (DI) Team competed at UMBC for the DI Maryland State Tournament this Saturday! We are so proud of our DI Competitive Team Members: Weston Arnie, Solomon Etteyit, Makenzie Morris, Aranza "Gigi" Porras-Arroyo & Logan Simshauser! We thank Mrs. McDonough who has served as a Facilitator and Appraiser for DI and our Team Managers of Mrs. & Mr. Arnie for their support and dedication to our team throughout this very successful DI season! Through this season, our team won 1st place at the Old Bay Regionals and earned the opportunity to compete as the only team from Wicomico County Public Schools at UMBC yesterday. We are so proud of their hard work and accomplishments!

The next monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in the Board of Education Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury.

For this Board meeting, the Board will convene at 6:30 p.m. and immediately vote to go into closed session. The open portion of the meeting will begin at about 7 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available at https://wicomico-schools.community.highbond.com/Portal/

Anyone wanting to register for public comments may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive during business hours to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form, or you can do so beginning one hour before the Board Meeting at 101 Long Avenue.

This meeting will be livestreamed on the Watch Board Meetings page of the school system’s website ( www.wicomicoschools.org). Meetings are also viewable after they have ended at https://www.wicomicoschools.org/page/watch-board-meetings

📖​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Last Friday, Ms. Carapico’s 1st grade class and Ms. Hicks’ 2nd grade class kicked off their first Buddy Reading session! The 2nd graders chose their own books and spent the week practicing before reading aloud to their 1st grade buddies. Next time, the 1st graders will take a turn reading to them!
