Our members have shown up every hour of every day. Rain, snow, extreme heat, risking our lives for complete strangers. Yet we face betrayal and only empty words of encouragement from inside our own government.

🚨Attention Salisbury and surrounding residents. Your Salisbury Mayor and city council are moving forward with legislation to strip your city workers of collective bargaining rights.
This is a move in the complete wrong direction as it relates to your safety. Bargaining rights help ensure well trained employees both remain in our city, as well as aspire to come work here. Taking away the very rights we fought so hard to obtain just two years ago, will likely drive good employees elsewhere. Places they feel appreciated and respected.
We ask that you take 30 seconds , scan the QR code on this flyer, to send a message directly to every city council member. Telling them that you admittedly oppose stripping your city employees of collective bargaining rights.

Members of Truck 2, D Shift - Lt. Andrew Merrill, Sgt. Michael Ozman, FF/PM Corey Dean, and FF/EMT TJ Moore have been awarded by the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association, the Chief Leonard T. King Medal of Valor for their heroic efforts at a recent fire.

Their actions reflect the very best of our profession and our members.

Today, our firefighters are out across District 1 having real conversations with residents about something that directly impacts public safety, collective bargaining.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about making sure the people who keep Salisbury running—your firefighters, public works employees, and city staff—have a voice in their working conditions, safety, and ability to serve you effectively.

🚨 Salisbury Residents — Your Voice Is Needed Now More Than Ever 🚨

Last night, the Salisbury Mayor and City Council took a step toward eliminating collective bargaining for city employees. While this was not the final outcome, it signals a serious shift that could have lasting consequences for the services our community relies on every day.

This attack on collective bargaining goes beyond an internal policy issue. It directly impacts:
➡️ The effectiveness and safety of your firefighters and police officers
➡️ The reliability of infrastructure and public services
➡️ The city’s ability to recruit and retain and a talented and experienced workforce

Now is the time to act.

👉 Make your voice heard by contacting City Council today:

It takes less than a minute to send a message urging city leaders to protect collective bargaining and the quality of services Salisbury depends on.
This is about ensuring Salisbury remains safe, responsive, and accountable for everyone.
Tell our Mayor and City Council that Salisbury Supports Collective Bargaining.

Tomorrow night, the mayor looks to use the salisbury city council as his weapons to completely dissolve collective bargaining for not only your Salisbury Career Firefighters, but all city employees. A move that will without a doubt drive a mass exodus of sworn employees and impact the services you as citizens receive. As citizens, you must know the truth. Collective bargaining isn’t simply a money grab, as the mayor will narrate to you, it’s much more. It’s a voice at the table about fair work standards, such as promotion standards, time off, access to further education, access to better improved PPE or bunker gear.
It’s about having the right to be represented with another Union voice in the room, if you’re being suspected of a complaint. It’s about having a real voice an input on proposed departmental changes before they are made. That way the folks on the floor, actually running the calls and keeping your city functioning, have real input on what works and what doesn’t.
And yes, bargaining is about recruiting and retaining the best talent possible and to do that, we must first catch up and keep pace with other departments across the state and region, in regards to salaries. Salisbury has consistently been the lowest paying career department in the state for longer than most of us have been employed here. Year over year, we continue to lose experienced men and women to other departments across the state, most of which came down to the bottom line of salaries. With an ever increasingly difficult job market and frankly a job that most would never sign on the dotted line to do, we simply can’t keep being at the bottom of the barrel.
You as citizens have the right to your judgement on this matter, not one man! We ask that you show up, call or email your elected officials and ask that they oppose this tyrannical order.

Around 4pm this afternoon, Wicomico 911 took numerous calls for a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of the Walmart on N. Salisbury Blvd. Truck 2 responded and arrived confirming the same, before extinguishment. Truck 2 is unique in the fact that it functions as both the city’s main aerial ladder, but also carries 400 gallons of water and a front bumper line, to be able to handle things such as vehicle and brush fires, without having to wait for an additional Engine company from another section of town.

Around 2032 hours Salisbury Special Ops, Fruitland VFD and Sharptown VFD Divers were alerted for a water rescue in the area of Coulbourn Mill Rd and South Division St. Local 4246 units, as well as surrounding agencies responded.

DC1 arrived on scene to find a vehicle submerged in the pond with one victim on the roof. PD on scene as well as the victim stated that there were two other occupants in the vehicle still. Units arrived on scene and rescuers began preparing to enter the water. Truck 2 placed their ladder in service allowing personnel to enter the water closer to the vehicle. Divers entered from the bank and made their way to the car by breaking through ice. Contact with the victim was made by personnel and 2 victims were quickly extricated from the submerged vehicle and removed to shore, followed by the third victim from the roof.

Two patients were flown by MSP Aviation to Shock Trauma and the third was taken by ground to PRMC.

A fast and professional response from all units as well as quick decision making from Operations allowed for an efficient rescue to be made.
