We’ve compiled a list of community assistance resources currently known to our office that may be able to help with needs.

But we know there are many organizations and resources in our community, and we want to make this list as useful as possible.

Know of a resource that isn’t included? Let us know! Send us the information so we can review it and consider adding it to the guide.

ODOT US-59 PROJECT UPDATE | RAILROAD CROSSING WORK
Drivers should plan for traffic impacts on Thursday, September 3, as work continues on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's US-59 improvement project in Sallisaw.

Beginning at daylight, Union Pacific Railroad and APAC-Central crews are scheduled to work at the railroad crossing. Work is expected to take the full day. Traffic signals at the intersection will be flashing during the work, and drivers should expect delays and plan an alternate route when possible.

Who is responsible for the US-59 project?
We know the ongoing construction has created frustrations and questions within our community, and we want to help residents better understand how the project is being managed.

US-59 is a state highway, and the current construction is an Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) project. APAC-Central is the contractor performing the highway construction, with Union Pacific Railroad involved in Thursday's railroad crossing work.

The City of Sallisaw is not directing or managing the construction project or its schedule. However, because the work directly affects our residents, businesses and visitors, the City will continue to share information we receive regarding closures, traffic changes and other significant impacts.
We appreciate everyone's patience and caution as this work continues in our community. Please share this information with anyone who regularly travels through this area.
