Interim meetings begin this week.

Held the third Wednesday of each month from May to November, interim meetings give Utahns an opportunity to help shape policy early in the process.

This is where lawmakers study Utah’s biggest challenges in depth. Ideas are debated, refined, and tested before bills are formally introduced for the 2027 session. Interim committees hear directly from citizens, experts, advocates, local leaders, and community members from across the state.

You can be attend in person or online. Committee agendas, materials, and livestreams are available at le.utah.gov.

Strong families were a top priority this session for the House Majority.

Yesterday, Gov. Cox ceremonially signed HB 190 by Rep. Jason Thompson, HB 290 by Rep. Tracy Miller and HB 329 by Rep. Ariel Defay.

Together, these bills expanded the Child Tax Credit for families with young children, created employer childcare tax credits to help businesses provide options for working parents, and expanded paid maternity leave for state employees.
