Step back in time! 🕰️

The first photo captures the Utah State Senate Chamber in August 1915, a year before the Capitol building was completed.The second photo shows the Chamber as it stands today—still serving as a hub for leadership, debate, and lawmaking in our state, with its historical details intact.

If you look closely at the rolltop desks, you will see they are original to the room! Those beautiful roll-top desks are original to the room. They were meticulously preserved and refurbished during the Capitol's massive restoration project from 2004–2008 so they could continue to be used by lawmakers today.
Seeing these images side-by-side highlights the incredible craftsmanship and dedication keeping our state's history alive.

The first monument constructed on Capitol Hill was completed 99 years ago today. The Mormon Battalion Monument commemorates the sacrifices made by 500 pioneers who joined the U.S. Army during the Mexican-American War. This 100-foot rose pink granite and bronze monument was sculpted by Gilbert Riswold and dedicated in 1927.
