Auditor II positions will post on the State's HR site on October 15, 2018. You must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting by May 2019 and a 3.0 GPA or better.
Tax Auditor - Salary starting at $23.63 per hour (approximately $49,000 per year). An auditor audits state tax returns to determine compliance with Utah tax laws and rules. An auditor: interprets tax laws, rules and policies; reviews, analyzes and summarizes tax returns; evaluates and reviews business reports, tax files, previous audits and other sources of information for purposes of identifying potential tax issues; contacts taxpayers to schedule audits; conducts audits by reconciling monetary amounts reported on returns to taxpayer records, examining taxpayer records to verify tax liabilities, interviewing taxpayers, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, preparing audit workpapers and scheduling errors; reviews preliminary audit findings with taxpayers and corresponds with third parties as needed; recommends improved accounting procedures to taxpayers; assists in the preparation of formal audit reports; advises taxpayers of appeal rights and on matters relating to the tax return; and performs other related duties as assigned. Traveling to taxpayer locations is required, including on average 4 to 6 weeks of out of town travel annually. Positions are generally located in Salt Lake City, and receive all state employment benefits.
