The way we communicate can shape how people connect, understand, and take action.
Join Westside Leadership Institute on Tuesday, September 15, for an interactive workshop designed to help community leaders become stronger storytellers and more confident speakers. You’ll practice how to communicate ideas clearly, connect with different audiences, and create messages that people remember.
These workshops are also an opportunity to meet other local leaders, grow your network, and gain practical tools you can bring back to your community.

Fundamentals is a 16-week leadership experience for people who want to discover their strengths, develop practical leadership skills, build meaningful relationships, and make a difference where they live, work, and play.

Participants also have the opportunity to earn 3 credits from the University of Utah while developing skills they can put into practice in their communities.

Applications for Startups close this week!

Are you starting a nonprofit, business, social venture, or community initiative? Or do you already have one and want to make it stronger and more sustainable?

Startups is a hands-on, two-semester program designed to help you build while you learn.

From September through May, participants meet every other Thursday from 5:30–8:30 PM in Salt Lake City to work directly on their own ventures with practical workshops, coaching, mentorship, and peer collaboration.

You’ll develop your venture model, explore funding and sustainability strategies, strengthen operations, marketing, and storytelling, and build the tools needed to launch, strengthen, and grow your work.

Starting September 3, participants can join one of two in-person programs designed to strengthen leadership skills and turn ideas into action:
→ Startups Course — Two-semester program offered in English
→ Leadership Fundamentals — 16-week program offered in English and Spanish

Classes will be on Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in Salt Lake City.

More than 20 years of leadership. Countless stories of impact. ✨

We’re excited to share moments from the Westside Leadership Institute Alumni Celebration, a meaningful gathering that brought together graduates of WLI programs to reconnect, celebrate, and reflect on the leadership journey that began for many in 2004.

Through WLI programs, participants have built leadership skills, strengthened community engagement, connected with local resources, and created initiatives that support positive change across the west side of Salt Lake County.

This celebration was more than a reunion. It was a reminder of the powerful role WLI alumni continue to play in our communities through advocacy, education, culture, health, neighborhood projects, and lasting service. 🤝

As we celebrate more than two decades of WLI, we also want to continue sharing the stories behind the impact.
