Central 9th Community Council Located just East of the Granary, and South of Downtown, the Central 9th neighborhood has the rare quality of being simultaneously quaint and connected.

Defined by front porches and single-family dwellings on tree-lined streets and a diverse array of restaurants, Central Ninth is also the home to many locally-owned service providers and small manufacturers. When is the best time to water your lawn?
Hint: it’s probably earlier than you think.

In a dry climate like Utah’s, when you water can make a noticeable difference in both lawn health and water use. The best time to water your lawn is in the early morning (around 4–10 am) when temperatures are cooler and winds are calmer. This helps water soak into the soil instead of evaporating in the heat.

🚫 Avoid watering at night — wet grass overnight can create the perfect conditions for fungus and lawn disease.

💡 Water smarter, not more:
• Water deeply and less often to encourage strong roots
• Check the weather before turning on sprinklers
• Late afternoon can work if mornings aren’t possible — just allow time for grass to dry before sunset

Getting the timing right is one of the simplest ways to use less water while still maintaining a healthy lawn.

Now in its 16th year, New City Movement’s Bunny Hop, presented in partnership with SLUG Mag, continues its tradition of bringing the community together through music, art and grassroots advocacy.

The event runs from 12 to 7 pm at T.F. Brewing. It features delicious food trucks, live screen printing by Copper Palate Press and all-vinyl DJ sets by up-and-coming and established local talent on two stages.

Proceeds from the Bunny Hop will benefit Promise South Salt Lake, a local nonprofit providing free programs and services for youth, families, and adults. The organization supports lifelong success by helping community members from cradle to career. Promise South Salt Lake envisions a future where every child, family, and neighbor has the stability, support, and opportunity needed to thrive, regardless of background or circumstance.
