Despite a relatively small student body, the school sustains a strong International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in addition to a wide variety of Advanced Placement offerings. Annually, Skyline High has been named among the top 4% of U.S. High Schools by Newsweek Magazine since 2003 due in no small part to the record-breaking numbers of AP and IB exams taken. Most recently Skyline was ranked 205th in the nation among high schools by that organization, making it the highest performing in Utah. Furthermore, U.S. News and World Report has awarded Skyline a Silver Medal multiple times in their evaluations of the nation’s high schools. Skyline's music and drama programs have received state-wide recognition. In addition, Skyline repeatedly wins Sterling Scholar awards at the state level every year. The debate program also ranks at the region and state levels. In the past five years, four Skyline students were selected as US Presidential Scholars. Skyline also leads the state in National Merit Finalists.
