đź’ˇ TIP TUESDAY: Stay in the Know!

Did you know providers can attend OCC Advisory Committee meetings?

These meetings are a great way to hear information directly from the Office of Child Care and stay informed about conversations and decisions affecting child care in Utah.

Topics at OCC Advisory Committee meetings can include things like:
• Child care subsidies
• OCC policies and program updates
• CCQS and quality initiatives
• Other issues impacting Utah child care providers and families

đź’ˇ TIP TUESDAY: Know Where to Find Your Subsidy Resources!

Trying to understand how a child care subsidy amount is calculated? There are a few important charts and tables every provider should know how to find!

🔗 Utah’s Child Care Subsidy Resources Page:

From this page, you can easily access:

📊 Maximum Child Care Subsidy Payments— See the maximum subsidy amount based on the child’s age and program type.

💰 Income Eligibility Limits — Find the updated income limits, including the new limits effective October 1st.

⏰ Participation Hours Table— This one is a little trickier to find! It shows how a family’s participation hours are used to determine the number of child care hours they qualify for. You’ll find it within the **Eligibility Policy**.

🎥 Follow along with our video and we’ll show you exactly where to find each of these resources!

During our PFCCA subsidy training, we also walked through how these pieces work together to calculate a child’s subsidy amount and what the upcoming subsidy changes may mean for families and providers.

📧 PFCCA members: We’ll be emailing out the recording of the training!

📣 Clarification: Who is the PFCCA

The Professional Family Child Care Association (PFCCA) is an independent association representing family child care providers. Our focus is providing resources, training, networking, and support specifically for the family child care community.

PFCCA is not part of, affiliated with, or operating under any other organization, coalition, or advocacy group.

We also want to clarify that our upcoming training on the OCC child care subsidy changes is a PFCCA training. It is not co-hosted by, presented on behalf of, or intended to promote any other organization or group.

Our goal is simply to provide family child care providers with clear information about the changes and how they may impact their programs. đź’ś

💜 **TIP TUESDAY | You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup**

As child care providers, so much of our day is spent pouring into others.

We comfort. We teach. We feed. We clean. We encourage. We problem-solve. We create safe spaces. We support families. And then we wake up and do it all again. đź©·

But you can't keep pouring from an empty cup.

Taking time to recharge doesn't mean you care any less about the children in your program. In fact, taking care of the person who shows up for those children every day matters, too. đź’ś

And “recharging” doesn't have to mean a vacation or an elaborate self-care routine. Maybe it's sitting in silence after the last child leaves, going for a walk, grabbing your favorite drink, working on a hobby, turning your phone off, spending time with people you love—or simply going to bed early.

✨ **This Tip Tuesday, we want to hear from our providers:**

🔋 **How do YOU recharge your battery?**

Drop yours in the comments—you might give another provider an idea they didn't know they needed. 🩷💜

✨ Tip Tuesday ✨

Quality and safety go hand in hand.

It's a common myth that reducing child care regulations will solve the child care shortage. In reality, research shows that children, families, and providers all benefit from strong health and safety standards, appropriate child-to-provider ratios, and well-qualified educators.

The challenge isn't that standards are too high—it's ensuring programs have the resources they need to meet them while providing high-quality care.

Every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive. đź’›

What an incredible few days at the 2026 National Child Care Convention!

Utah showed up strong with almost 200 providers, parents, and advocates coming together to learn, connect, and advocate for children, families, and the early childhood profession.

We are heading home with new ideas, stronger partnerships, and a renewed passion to create positive change in our communities. Together, our voices are stronger, and we're returning more empowered than ever to continue advocating for high-quality child care and the families we serve.

Thank you to everyone who made this event so inspiring. The work doesn't end here—it's just beginning! 💪✨
