For weeks, far-right activists and candidates have been spreading rumors about a supposed plan to give Salt Lake County Council members massive pay raises, make them full-time employees, and provide personal staff.
Today, 8 of the 9 current council members publicly stated they oppose any such proposal.
That raises an obvious question: if this issue is serious enough to campaign on, why is one far-right extremist candidate spreading rumors disputed by nearly the entire council?
It’s also worth noting that one council member chose not to join his colleagues in signing that statement. Voters deserve to know why.
Salt Lake County residents are looking for leaders focused on housing, transportation, public safety, clean air, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars — not political mudslinging, manufactured outrage, and election-year conspiracy theories.
Facts matter. Accountability matters. And Salt Lake County deserves better than half-baked misinformation masquerading as leadership from a far-right extremist candidate trying to paint herself as a voice or reason.
