📋 September is National Preparedness Month — and there’s no better time to ask: Are you ready?
Emergencies like earthquakes, wildfires, floods, and severe storms can happen without warning. Salt Lake City Emergency Management is here to help you get prepared — because the more ready you are, the safer you’ll be while first responders work their way to you.
Preparedness isn’t just about having an emergency kit (though that’s important!). It’s also about knowing what to do before, during, and after a disaster.
Here’s how to get started:
🔹 Make an emergency plan with your family, roommates, or coworkers
🔹 Build a 96-hour kit with food, water, meds, flashlights, chargers & more
🔹 Practice your plan so everyone knows what to do when it matters
🔹 Get trained — CPR, Stop the Bleed, CERT, and other free courses
🔹 Get involved in your neighborhood’s preparedness efforts
Prepared people create stronger, safer communities — and that starts with you.
