Loyalhanna Lake

Loyalhanna Lake Official page. One of 16 flood risk management reservoirs in USACE Pittsburgh District. The lake and the dam are located entirely in Westmoreland County, PA.

Located 4.5 above its junction with the Conemaugh River at Saltsburg, PA forming the Kiskiminetas River. Loyalhanna Lake offers many recreational opportunities at it's dam facility such as fishing, pavillion rentals, picnic tables, as well as a playground. Visitors to the lake will discover rolling foothills of the Laurel Highlands, from which the headwaters of Loyalhanna Creek flow, the steep, wo

oded hillsides and ravines found in the vicinity of the dam. In the midst of these surroundings, visitors to Loyalhanna Lake can enjoy many outdoor activities. Approximately 6 miles from the damsite, Bush Recreation Area offers plenty of opportunites for recreation. Visitors can enjoy fishing and boating on the lake, picnicing in the day use area, and camping at one of the 44 campsites available. For boaters, the lake offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. A three-lane boat launching ramp is provided for power boaters and water-ski enthusiasts. Canoeists can float Loyalhanna Creek as it meanders on its course toward the lake, providing beautiful scenery and a chance to observe nature.
