🚨Look who’s back!! 🚨

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Omar Lopez Salomon 📢 is back to work and raring to go! He has officially been given a clean bill of health 👍and is cancer-free 🎉after his Stage 1 soft cell carcinoma diagnosis.🧡

Omar wants to send a huge thank you ❤️ to everyone who sent well wishes, offered prayers, helped financially, or supported by buying t-shirts and hats. Our community is truly incredible, and the support you showed him means the world. 😊=🌏

Omar’s biggest takeaway? He wants to remind everyone to listen 👂 to your body. His cancer was caught during a routine check-up, and that early detection saved his life and made for a much smoother removal process. If something doesn't feel right, please don't wait—go get it checked out!✔️

😁We are so happy to have you back, Omar!❤️

🚨How NOT, to see us today.🚨

Rainy roads mean less traction and more risk. Please slow down, increase your following distance, and skip the cruise control today. 🌧️⚠️

Most importantly, buckle up. It’s the easiest way to save a life:

Seat belts reduce the risk of fatal injury for front-seat occupants by 45%.

Always ensure your children are properly buckled in the back seat, every single trip.

Be the example for your family and keep everyone safe out there! 🚑💙

🚨Big wins for safety last night! 🚨

Our crews were out in full force:🚑💪🏻

✅ Operational Excellence: Captain Ethan Derrick and Joe Cook teamed up with Circle Fire Department for intensive training on patient movement techniques and equipment. They also reviewed key specialized gear on the QRV, such as the SKED litter, Cyanokit, and advanced CO monitoring.

✅ Community Connection: PIER Officer Kattie Lee Helwig-Hallman and Saluda County Coroner’s Office Coroner Angie Fulmer Rita spent the evening teaching Sleep Safe programs, car seat safety, and the Heimlich maneuver—with some "Happy Feet" fun for the kids!👣Thank you Saluda County First Steps for inviting us l.

Thank you to our partners for making these trainings possible.

Preparing for the most critical moments, so we are ready when our community needs us most. 👶🚑

This past week, the Saluda County EMS team had the privilege of hosting the experts from Prisma Health Simulation Center for an intensive obstetrics and neonatal emergency training workshop.

Obstetric emergencies are high-acuity, low-frequency events that require precision and teamwork. Our crews spent time in the high-fidelity simulation lab, getting hands-on experience with:

✅ Shoulder Dystocia Management: Mastering the maneuvers necessary to resolve complications safely.

✅ Routine Birth Procedures: Maintaining proficiency in standard deliveries to ensure the best outcomes.

✅ Neonatal Resuscitation: Refining our ventilation and life-saving techniques for our youngest patients.

A huge thank you to Glen Miller and James Dunovant for bringing this invaluable training to our new headquarters. We are committed to continuous learning and sharpening our skills to provide the highest level of care for the families of Saluda County.

🚑💨DID YOU KNOW modern EMS owes a huge thanks to… Napoleon Bonaparte? 🇫🇷⚔️

While modern civilian EMS as we know it took off in the 1960s, the very first organized "ambulance" system was created during the Napoleonic Wars by Napoleon's chief military surgeon, Baron Dominique-Jean Larrey.😲

Before Larrey, wounded soldiers were left on the battlefield for days 🤕 until the fighting stopped. Larrey changed the game by creating horse-drawn "flying ambulances" (ambulances volantes) to rush trained medics into the crossfire, treat soldiers on the spot, and carry them to safety.

Napoleon was so impressed 👍 he called Larrey the most virtuous man he ever met.

Fast forward ➡️to today: those early wooden wagons have transformed into high-tech life-saving rigs packed with top-tier equipment and brilliant paramedics.🧠

Next time you see an ambulance 🚑 go by, remember: you're looking at a concept born on a 19th-century battlefield!

🇺🇸Honor. Remember. Reflect. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, Saluda County EMS 🚑pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women 🪖who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. 🇺🇸 Their legacy of selflessness and dedication is a debt we can never fully repay, but it is one we will never forget.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, let us keep the families of our fallen heroes in our thoughts and carry their memory forward in everything we do.❤️

We are forever grateful. Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
