Did you know Sammamishโ€™s parks have stories as rich as their landscapes? In our Sammamish Parks 101 series, we explore the history, growth, and hidden gems of our local parksโ€”while revisiting some fun photos along the way.

Parks 101 is your guide to discovering (and rediscovering) the spaces that make Sammamish special. Letโ€™s talk about the Sammamish Commons!

This 25-acre park is located in the middle of Sammamish with an upper and lower section connected by an accessible trail. We opened our first community garden in the lower section of this park in 2013. Plots are available for lease to community residents for $75 per year.

The Sammamish Commons also hosts our Native Plan Garden. In 2008, Linda Hines, led a partnership with the City, the Washington Native Plant Society, and the Sammamish Garden Club to transform 20,000 square feet in Lower Sammamish Commons into a native plant sanctuary for public education.

Most of the community might be familiar with this space because we host our annual 4th on the Plateau fireworks show here as well as our Rigapalooza (now called Big Rigs on the Plaza) event.

This park offers:
a playground ๐Ÿ›
restrooms ๐Ÿšป
trails ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ
skate park ๐Ÿ›น
basketball court ๐Ÿ€
spray park ๐Ÿ’ง
reservable picnic shelter ๐Ÿงบ
