Very pleased to have this Aid to Navigation back in service after 275 days and countless hours of troubleshooting, hard work, and perseverance.

Chad, Carter and Steve are the reason that the third order Fresnel lens at Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is turning once again.

Chad Kaiser (left) is one of the few lampists in the United States, with incredible knowledge on the care and maintenance of historic Fresnel lenses. He travels all over the country working on these lenses, and Point Cabrillo was very lucky to have him come spend time on the Mendocino Coast.

BMC Carter McGuire (middle) is the Officer in Charge at U.S. Coast Guard ANT Humboldt Bay, and has spent countless hours working on the 1937 motor from Point Cabrillo Lighthouse. His team manages the many Federal Aids to Navigation along Northern California’s rocky coastline.

Steve Nilson (right) is the Site Manager for the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association, and has been volunteering at this light station since 2005. He is an irreplaceable member of the Point Cabrillo team, and is a retired member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 08-07, where he served as Flotilla Commander for many years.

Please join us in saying thank you to these incredible people!
