CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit

Do you know your zone? If you live, visit or work in Calaveras County you should.
County Office of Emergency Services and the sheriff's office will refer to zones should an evacuation be needed.

In Tuolumne County, zones are not used however, a descriptive location is used instead.

Ensure you are signed up for emergency alerts in either county to get vetted evacuation information.

An evacuation zone is a designated area used by emergency officials to help communicate where people may need to evacuate during an emergency. Knowing your zone ahead of time can help you understand evacuation information and act quickly if conditions change.

👩‍🚒CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, August calls for service update 🚒
TCU crews respond 24/7/365 and have experienced a busy month.
Evaluate your level of preparedness and stay observant to any activities that may start a fire. Some items to consider include:

🏡 Clear defensible space around your home
🗺 Have a wildfire evacuation plan ready
📱Seconds can save lives, report emergencies quickly
⚠️ Use outdoor equipment in the morning, before peak heat hours

(update) Crews are making great progress and have hose lays around both flanks. The fire is holding at approximately 19.5 acres.

Resources are at scene of a vegetation fire in the 3300 block of Canyon Court, Murphys (Calaveras County). The fire is approximately 10-15 acres with a moderate rate of spread.
Please avoid the area if possible.

(update) The fire remains at 19 acres and is 75% contained. Crews worked throughout the night strengthening containment lines. There will be resources assigned to the fire today conducting mop up operation.

Please use caution if you are in the area and watch out for emergency personnel.

The fires forward progress has been stopped. All aircraft has been released and some resources will remain at scene firefighters will continue to construct and strengthen the fire perimeter overnight.

(update) Although the fire has grown slightly, it currently remains with in established retardant lines. Some of the aircraft is holding their position at the airbase and Air Attack continues to monitor conditions. Ground resources are still responding, please avoid the area.

The fire is 10-15 acres with moderate rate of spread and short range spotting. Additional resources have been ordered. Evacuations are taking place near Old Emigrant Trail and Swiss Ranch Road, Mountain Ranch (Calaveras County)
