🚨 It’s the first of the month. Test your smoke alarms. Your life depends on it.

Hello, AC season. Before you cool down, make sure your air conditioner is set up safely. Plug window air conditioners directly into a wall outlet.

Many manufacturers do not allow extension cords. If they are allowed, use the proper type and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

This morning, Friday, May 22, the San Angelo Fire Department accepted a donation of swiftwater rescue gear from the Rotary District 5840 Foundation, facilitated by the local Rotary Club.

The protective gear, valued at more than $25,000, will outfit eight members of the department’s swiftwater rescue team. With the addition, SAFD now has a full 16-member team that is trained, equipped and ready to respond to swiftwater emergencies in San Angelo and the surrounding area.

Thank you, San Angelo Rotary Club!

San Angelo Fire Department recruits recently completed their S‑130/190 Wildland “Field Day” training, led by Lt. Jade Hughes in partnership with the Texas Forest Service. Recruits practiced hands‑on wildland skills including progressive line construction, building fire breaks, and deploying progressive hose lays. They also trained on emergency fire shelter deployment, an essential last‑resort survival tool for wildland firefighters.

Big thanks to our SAFD instructors and Texas A&M Forest Service partners for helping prepare our newest firefighters for wildland operations.

Instructor team:
Lt. Stephen Montgomery, Jaden Lange, and Sontos Chavez, all Crew Bosses with SAFD’s TIFMAS program, supported the training alongside Texas Forest Service personnel Cody Lambert and Joel Crimm.
